With over 25 years of recruitment experience, Debbie Jackson joined Gravitas in July 2021 as Practice Lead for the Actuarial, Catastrophe Risk, and Analytics team within the Insurance Division.
She began her career in General Insurance recruitment in 1996, consistently achieving top-biller status and discovering her passion for Catastrophe Risk and Exposure Management. This ultimately led her to co-own a successful recruitment business for more than a decade.
Today, Debbie operates within the London Insurance Market, specialising in Catastrophe Risk, Exposure Management, and Non-Life Actuarial roles. She works with a broad range of clients, including brokers, managing agencies, syndicates, (re)insurers, MGAs, third-party model providers, and Insurtech businesses. Over the years, she has built an extensive network and forged many long-standing professional relationships.
“I work in a candidate-short market, so the importance of close candidate relationships and a solutions-driven approach is vital. Rather than ‘fishing in the same pond’ as others, I like to understand hiring needs, analysing skill set, attitude and aptitude so I can implement alternative strategies to find the right candidate for those difficult to fill positions.”
Debbie’s role remains hands-on, supporting professionals at all levels - from helping junior candidates take their first steps into the market to managing complex, retained executive searches. Many of the individuals she placed early in their careers are now senior leaders and valued clients, reflecting her dedication to long-term partnerships.
A solutions-driven recruiter, she takes pride in tailoring her approach to each client’s unique needs, ensuring the best possible outcomes while contributing to Gravitas’ growth and strategic development.
Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her home-office companion, Lola the Cockapoo. She is active in her local community, fundraising and managing the local boules team, and has recently developed a passion for the gym.
