Emma Carlton joined Gravitas in 2013 and has played a pivotal role in managing and developing the company’s support functions, including Customer Care, Legal, Administration, Facilities, and HR.
Having started her recruitment career in 2008 with a previous global recruitment agency, as a Business Coordinator, Emma brings extensive experience in operations, compliance, budget management, and risk mitigation, ensuring smooth, efficient, and effective business processes across the organisation.
In her current role as Director of Business Operations at Gravitas, Emma focuses on driving strategic initiatives, improving operational effectiveness, and creating positive experiences for Gravitas’ clients, candidates, and colleagues.
She has successfully led office expansions, overseen the implementation of IR35 in both public and private sectors, and introduced process improvements that have strengthened the business. Emma’s contributions have been recognised with two Business Contribution Awards and the Recruiter Awards’ Most Effective Back Office Operation Award.

Outside work, Emma is a proud mum of two and enjoys practicing yoga and reading in her downtime.
