Role Overview
As a recruitment consutlant you're primarily responsible for building relationships with professionals and employer businesses within a market (candidates and clients). Through those relationships you will be expected to generate sales leads to help find and secure jobs from businesses. You will then utilise your networks, database and various other tools to find suitable people for that job, then assess and understand their needs and ultimately match the needs of the employer and candidate. You'll build positive relationships in order to gain a better understanding of your clients' recruitment needs and requirements. You will also provide market advice to both clients and candidates on salary levels, training requirements and career opportunities.
Bearing this in mind you could break down the recruitment consultant job into 3 key areas:
1. Clients - Business Generation
As a recruitment consultant you are responsible for finding companies who we might be able to hire for. There are multiple ways to do this – including finding out who candidates report into (i.e. their managers’ names) or find out where they are interviewing. Both of these examples are known as lead generation. Eventually, you will be able to build a relationship with these hiring managers and use Gravitas’ Unique Selling Points to persuade them that we are the best agency to fill the vacancy.
2. Candidates – Sourcing Applicants
Now it is time to fill the vacancy! Majority of the candidates we are trying to target will not be actively looking for a new job – it’s down to you to build a relationship, find out which opportunities might tempt them and effectively sell a vacancy to them. Once you find candidates that are interested, you will send their profiles over to the hiring manager and secure them an interview slot.
3. Managing the process
When you have a candidate booked in for an interview, your job is to now prepare them for an interview. After the interview you will get feedback from both the candidate and client. If the candidate is unsuccessful, you will relay the constructive feedback to help the candidate with any further interviews. If the candidate impresses and the client would like to offer the candidate, you will manage the entire offer process to ensure both the candidate and client are happy. You will also ensure you carry out any after care and help theclient to successfully onboard the candidate so that they start with the client. Following a successful hire, organising a meeting with both the Client and Candidate ; taking time to understand how the Candidate is settling into their new role and discuss future business opportunities with the Client.
